Discussion paper on competitiveness

Competitiveness is the motto of the moment – also for German banks. As the beating heart of our economy, banks are vital for growth, innovation and stability. But the current regulatory framework places a considerable burden on the institutions. It is overly complex, costly and opaque.

In its latest discussion paper, the German Banking Industry Committee (GBIC) analyses the complex and fragmented regulatory framework for banking supervision. At the same time, if puts forward possible solutions as to how efficient and, at the same time, stable regulation which is fit for the future could guarantee scope for more growth and investment in a sovereign Europe.
